Anmol Nisar, MD
I am an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who moved to Canada with my family in 2020, bringing with me a strong academic foundation and a passion for medicine. I graduated with several distinctions and achieved high scores in the Medical Council of Canada’s QE1 and NAC OSCE exams. Since arriving in Canada, I have actively volunteered at numerous clinics and hospitals, gaining invaluable hands-on experience through preceptorships. These experiences allowed me to navigate the intricacies of patient care within Canada’s healthcare system, while adapting to cultural nuances and engaging with patients from diverse backgrounds. Throughout this journey, I gained a deep understanding of the challenges IMGs face in the Canadian medical licensing process.
In 2024, I successfully matched to my second top choice in the Family Medicine Program through the CaRMS cycle, marking a significant milestone in my career. Having faced the hurdles of the IMG licensing process firsthand, I am passionate about supporting and guiding fellow IMGs through this often complex and daunting journey. My experiences have equipped me with insights that can help others achieve success in their medical careers in Canada.
Additionally, my involvement with the Newcomer Skills Accelerator Program Canada has further refined my mentoring skills. I have had the privilege of mentoring IMGs and newcomers, helping them navigate the Canadian healthcare landscape and the intricacies of the licensing process. My ability to present complex information in a clear, accessible manner has been instrumental in helping others achieve their goals, and I am committed to continuing this work by offering guidance and support to those following a similar path.
